Professional Service Agreement

We provide design services in-house as well as partner with some of the best designers, engineers, and architects in the region depending on what a client, and the project needs.  We provide design services in tandem with our pre-construction estimating and discovery due diligence or Professional Service Agreements (PSA) to make sure the design path does not derail a project.   

So many projects go to the imaginary junk heap because the creative energy created a $700k project for a $400k budget.  And by the time that is discovered, the time and money has already been spent.  PSA’s help us to eliminate the guesswork from a construction project. PSA's involve, but are not limited to, the following services:
  • digging out a footing to check for compatibility
  • checking and mapping electrical wiring
  • defining each line item trade to have a clear scope of work for subcontractors
  • preconstruction calendars and critical path Gantt charts
  • costing of finishes
  • working with clients to educate them on the difference in prices for the same designs on the same projects (for example why is one cabinet bid $7500 and the other $14500?)
  • defining construction terms
  • defining the level of customer involvement
  • defining the levels of service
  • defining what is included and what is excluded throughout the project
These pre-construction services are essential to know whether a team should move forward and actually start construction.  Sometimes the smart answer is “no.”

  • The PSA provides a valuable service of providing information and defines the scope of work, but more importantly gets the team working together before the contract is signed and the actual construction begins.  We offer no PSA or Design-Build contract that has an obligation to continue to construction phase with Berkley Construction Inc.
  • The current model used by some in the construction industry of getting plans, then collecting free “bids” and trying to figure out which one is best is ludicrous.  Free is simply worth what it costs.  The system results in vague contracts with a poorly defined scope of work and a surefire way to not know what you are paying for, and what is included or not.
