• Why should I invest in Solar Energy?
  - With the cost of energy continuing to increase, you need a more cost-effective energy solution for your home or office.
  - Solar allows you to help the environment on a daily basis in a measurable way.

• Do Solar Energy systems need a battery backup?
  No. We design the majority of our systems to be grid tied. That means the energy that is produced with the system is sent back into the grid for credits on the annual electric utility bill. Essentially the new system produces energy during the day, and the customer buys electricity from the utility company during the night. This is called “Net Metering”.
  

• How large a system does the homeowner or business need?
  Berkley Construction, Inc completes a full site and electrical usage analysis which allows for a fully tailored solar energy system. A typical 2kw system will cover about 40%-60% of the annual electricity bill for 2000 square foot home. For each kilowatt there is a need for approximately 100 square feet of roof space.
  
  
• What types of incentives are available for investing in Solar Energy?
  In the State of California there are 3 different sources of incentives available for up front cost reduction.
  - There is a rebate of $2.50 per watt from the California Solar Initiative. This rebate system applies to residential systems and small business system up to 30kw.
  - A performance based rebate of $.39 per watt is available from the California Solar Initiative program for systems larger that 100kw.
  - The Federal government has enacted a 30% tax credit for all PV systems. For residential systems the credit is capped at $2000.
  - For business clients there is a 5 year accelerated depreciation schedule.
  - ALL properties qualify for the property tax exemption.
  
  
• How much can I expect to pay for a Solar System?
  -Residential Solar Systems start at $20,000, while commercial systems can range around $100,000.
  - Businesses receive a larger benefit from the incentives than homeowners currently do. The total cost of a solar energy system for a business can be reduced by 70%-75%
  
  
• What about a roof that needs repair---how can we integrate Solar?
  This is the OPPORTUNITY ! At the time of the re-roof our company can now offer solutions that fit into the roof structure or on top with little visual impact.
